City of Clovis recently issued the following announcement.
We have a sad update on an at-risk missing adult that was reported to our Department on February 4, 2022. David Smith, a 61-year-old Clovis resident, was found deceased today, February 7, 2022. Mr. Smith was last seen leaving home on February 2, and information showed that he purchased items in Squaw Valley on February 3. On Sunday, February 6, his truck was located near the day use area of Hume Lake. Since then, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Unit (SAR) has been searching for him from the ground, on horseback, and from the air. Earlier today, Mr. Smith’s body was located near Hume Lake by SAR. There were no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. We would like to thank the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance, and send our condolences to the Smith family, who have been notified.
