WASHINGTON – Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) has been appointed as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Legislative Branch Subcommittee by Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole (OK-04). Valadao expressed his gratitude and commitment to his new role in a statement released today.

“It’s an honor to be selected by Chairman Cole to lead the Legislative Branch Subcommittee,” said Congressman Valadao. “I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Appropriations Committee since I was first elected to Congress in 2013, and through every funding fight over the years, I’ve always sought to put the needs of my Central Valley constituents first.”

Valadao emphasized the importance of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee’s work in ensuring Congress is well-equipped to meet the needs of the people they represent. He also expressed his dedication to leading the subcommittee in a bipartisan manner and ensuring responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

Chairman Tom Cole praised Valadao’s appointment, stating, “The Appropriations Committee is lucky to have Congressman Valadao step up to the role of Chairman of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee. In all of the years I’ve known David, he has proven himself to be an effective legislator who remains hyper-focused on serving his constituents.”

The Legislative Branch Subcommittee, over which Valadao now presides, holds jurisdiction over various entities within the legislative branch of government, including the Capitol Police, Architect of the Capitol, Congressional Budget Office, Government Accountability Office, House of Representatives, Library of Congress, and the Senate.

With Valadao’s leadership, the Subcommittee is expected to continue its critical work effectively.
