Congressman David Valadao engaged with Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins during a House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee hearing focused on agriculture, rural development, and related agencies. The discussion covered international trade, disaster assistance, and agricultural labor issues.
Valadao addressed the General Services Administration’s plans to close USDA Farm Service Agency offices and inquired about regional conservation partnership programs. He expressed concerns about supporting Central Valley producers by addressing unfair trading practices and ensuring timely disaster aid.
“It was great speaking with USDA Secretary Rollins today about several key priorities for the Central Valley’s agricultural sector,” said Congressman Valadao. He emphasized the need for immigration reform to support the region’s agricultural workforce and raised questions regarding funds for Regional Conservation Partnership Programs aimed at helping dairy farmers adopt sustainable practices.
Valadao also highlighted the importance of maintaining USDA county Farm Service Agency offices, particularly in Bakersfield. “I appreciate Secretary Rollins’ time and look forward to working closely with her to deliver real solutions for these critical issues,” he added.
