WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) expressed his thoughts on the passage of the Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) Further Consolidated Appropriations Act. In his statement, Congressman Valadao, a member of the Appropriations Committee, emphasized the importance of responsible spending, stating, “As a member of the Appropriations Committee, determining how taxpayer dollars are spent is a responsibility I take seriously.”

Furthermore, Congressman Valadao highlighted specific allocations within the funding package, stating, “I’m proud that we are funding a historic pay raise for our troops, thousands of new Border Patrol Agents to secure the border, and robust support for the military to counter threats from our adversaries.” He also noted the efforts made by Republicans to reduce spending, mentioning, “Republicans secured significant cuts to Biden’s inflationary spending even in a divided government.”

Acknowledging that the bill is not without flaws, Congressman Valadao commended the bipartisan collaboration that led to its passage, stating, “While this is by no means a perfect bill, it is the result of bipartisan cooperation to reduce wasteful spending, keep our government open, and provide robust support for our national defense.”

The funding package encompasses a range of bills, including Defense; Financial Services and General Government; Homeland Security; Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies; Legislative Branch; and State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs.

The Further Consolidated Appropriations Act represents a significant step towards ensuring the continued operation and support of key government functions in the fiscal year 2024.
