Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP) incarcerated artists worked with the bike repair program to use their skills for a good cause.

Their efforts were donated to the 113th Coalinga Community Service Awards Gala. The refurbished bikes from the PVSP Bike Shop extends the use of the bikes while also teaching skills to the incarcerated population. Aside from the bike program, the PVSP artists are always happy to help and display their artistic skills for worthwhile causes.

The banquet honors community volunteers, citizens, first responders and business of the year. The donated items are used for a silent auction to benefit festivals and events held in Coalinga.

“PVSP Bike Shop is such an awesome area. Dozens of donated broken down bikes are donated from our neighboring communities. Our Minimum Security Facility (MSF) incarcerated population take these broken bikes and put in hours of work. They are passionate about creating a functional bike for daily use. That is a win for everyone in my book,” said acting Warden Tristan Lemon.
