Chapman University Athletics issued the following announcement on March 7

The Chapman University men's tennis team took a narrow 5-4 loss to visiting Swarthmore on Monday. The Panthers nearly rallied during singles but came up just short of a comeback.

After falling behind 3-0 in doubles, the Panthers rallied at the top of the singles lineup but Swarthmore captured the two points at No. 5 and No. 6 to take the match.

Caleb Wilkins and Harry Cohen both improved to 2-1 at the top of the singles lineup. Wilkins fought his way to a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 1 and Cohen won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2. Tommy Hays picked up a three-set win on the No. 3 court with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-0 victory. Kameron DeHart put Chapman on the board with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4.

Wilkins and Cohen nearly avoided the doubles sweep in the No. 1 match but fell in a tiebreaker.

The Panthers are back on the court tomorrow to take on Vassar at 1 p.m.
