Women's golf finishes fifth at SCIAC Championships

The Chapman University women's golf team finished in fifth at the SCIAC Championships at Tukwet Golf Course. Kristen Lee led the team in 12th on the individual leaderboard.

The Panthers finished in fifth with a team score of 975 (+111) after finishing the tournament with a 327 (+39) on Tuesday. Pomona-Pitzer won the team title over Redlands in second and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in third. Cal Lutheran took fourth. Whittier, Occidental and La Verne finished behind Chapman.

Lee's 236 (+20) placed her 12th on the individual leaderboard after shooting a seven-over 79 in the final round. Rachel Truong turned in an 82 (+10) to fall two strokes behind Lee in 14th. Emily Cho finished in 25th with a 252 (+39) for the three-round tournament.

Sydnee DiMascio and Kaitlyn Vetica both finished with a 263 (+50). Vetica ended the tournament with her best day, finishing Tuesday's third round 11-over par. Shanna Schuckman equaled Vetica on Tuesday but took 36th overall.

The Panthers came into the SCIAC Championships ranked 23rd in Golfstat's rankings as one of six SCIAC teams in the top-50. Chapman finished the 2022 season in fourth place in the overall SCIAC standings, combining the team scores from the seven rounds of three SCIAC events.
