Chapman has been fortunate to have a robust volunteer force that is committed to supporting the university and ensuring students enjoy the full benefits of a Chapman education. Ever since 1861, volunteerism has been at the heart of Chapman’s success and the university would not be where it is today without the support from all the members of the Chapman Family.
Each year, over a thousand volunteers, including alumni, parents, faculty, staff and community members, give countless hours of their time to the university. Chapman volunteers support our in-person events, serve as advisors on committees and participate on boards that focus on development initiatives, mentor students, lead fundraising efforts, support various programs and initiatives, and much more.
During National Volunteer Appreciation week, April 17-23, Chapman is saying “THANK YOU” to everyone who donates their time and expertise to support the university’s mission. Spotlights posted throughout the week on Chapman’s Volunteer Engagement website will introduce individual volunteers while also demonstrating the diverse ways in which volunteers can give their time.
“We have always been thankful for our alumni, our parents and the people in our community who have given their time and their expertise to help us create the Chapman Experience for our students,” said Chapman University president Daniele Struppa. “What wasn’t always apparent was how much our volunteers are willing to support Chapman even more with their time and resources during challenging times.”
“Every day I am able to see volunteers connect with others who share similar passions for Chapman,” says Michael Perini, Chapman’s manager of volunteer engagement. “I have seen many lifelong friendships grow from those experiences. It reminds me what a close knit Chapman Family we have and how lucky we are.”
Recent studies have shown that 73% of volunteers are ready to return to pre-pandemic levels of engagement. Chapman is ready for them. “The office of Volunteer Engagement is unique to university life in that the office is committed to providing a holistic volunteer experience focused on connecting all volunteers to the opportunities that will be most meaningful. Even our volunteers are promised a personalized experience,” says Perini.
