Two student-athletes represented the Chapman University track & field teams in the USTFCCCA All-Region team announcement. Sophomores Jesse McMillan and Kayla Almeida earned the honors for the first time in their respective careers.
McMillan made history in 2022 when he shattered the previous school record in the pole vault and earned an invitation to the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. He became the first Chapman student-athlete to compete at the national meet in Chapman's Division III era. His best vault of 4.90 meters (16-feet, 0.75-inches) ranked as the third-best in the West and 12th-highest in all of Division III.
Almeida also etched her name into the record book this season. Her personal-best time of 2:16.41 broke the Chapman record in the 800 meter run and finished the season as the fifth-fasted in the West Region to earn her the All-Region accolade.
McMillan joined former long jumper Mitchell Bouldin and the 2019 4x400m relay team on Chapman's list of Division III All-Region award winners. Almeida joins teammate Maddie Mirro as the only two student-athletes for the women's team to garner the All-Region accolades.
