Chapman Continues Its Steady Climb in U.S. News & World Report Rankings

Since first breaking into U.S. News & World Report’s national rankings in 2019, Chapman University has continued to gain ground as one of the top universities in the country. That trend continues in the newest annual rankings, released Monday, Sept. 12, with Chapman rising another spot to No. 121 among national universities.

Chapman scored highly in the Ethnic Diversity index, which measures how likely a student is to encounter a student of a different ethnic group on campus.

“To be recognized again amongst our peers for our diverse student body is a testament to Chapman’s commitment as an institution to improving diversity and inclusion on our campuses,” says Chapman University President Daniele C. Struppa. “I’m confident that we’ll only continue to rise in the rankings as we continue to prioritize our efforts in this area.”

Other notable rankings released Monday, Sept. 12 include No. 66 in Undergraduate Teaching and No. 52 in Most Innovative Schools (up from No. 57 in 2021). Chapman also ranked with top universities in Best Colleges for Veterans, Best Undergraduate Business Programs and Best Undergraduate Computer Science Programs.

Institutional rankings are determined by assessments in a variety of categories that include student success, faculty resources, and selectivity among others.

“Chapman’s reputation continues to grow,” says Struppa. “We have worked deliberately to build an institution with the best faculty, the best researchers, the best facilities, so that we can attract the best students and provide them with  a world-class, personalized education. Our graduates go out into the world to become leaders and innovators in their fields, and they are proud to call themselves Chapman alumni. It is gratifying to see all our efforts acknowledged by our peers,” he says.

Chapman also was recently included by the Princeton Review in their guidebook “The  Best 388 Colleges” for 2023. The listing, which is based on student surveys, gave Chapman honors for having the No. 16 Best College Radio Station and No. 21 Best Science Lab Facilities.
