The Chapman University men's basketball fell 74-58 to visiting Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday. Jake Heberle led the Panthers with 15 points.

The Sagehens used a hot start from the three-point line to build an early lead and never let the Panthers back in the game. A three-and-a-half minute span in the first half saw Pomona-Pitzer go on a 14-0 run before Kyle Lewis drained a three-pointer to stop the run.

The run ended with Pomona-Pitzer's biggest lead of the night, 33-16. Chapman fought back to cut the lead to eight early in the second half but the Sagehens responded with the next eight points to pad the lead back to 16.

Pomona-Pitzer drained seven three-pointers in the first half and outrebounded Chapman 49-22 to key the victory.Jack Roggin scored nine points with five assists and four steals before leaving late in the game with an injury while Anthony Smith scored six points and equaled Roggin's five assists. Smith also led the Panthers with six rebounds.

The Panthers are back home on Saturday to face La Verne at 4 p.m. in the nightcap of a SCIAC men's and women's doubleheader.
