Today, the House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) with Congressman David Valadao’s support. The FY25 NDAA authorizes funding for all discretionary military programs and activities, including personnel, operations, maintenance, procurement, research, and development. It also outlines critical policies and directives for the Department of Defense (DoD).
“Today I was proud to vote to make critical quality-of-life improvements for our servicemembers and give our troops a well-deserved pay raise,” said Congressman Valadao. “This bill provides our military with the equipment, resources, and training needed to effectively protect the United States against our adversaries. Providing for our national defense has been a bipartisan effort for over 60 years. We still have work to do to get this bill across the finish line, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to strengthen the FY25 NDAA through the conference process.”
Among other provisions, the House-passed version of the FY25 NDAA:
- Boosts compensation for servicemembers by authorizing a 19.5% pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers and supports a 4.5% pay raise for all other servicemembers.
- Improves housing by authorizing $601 million over the President’s request for housing maintenance accounts and over $693 million to build new family housing units.
- Ensures access to medical care for servicemembers by expanding the number of doctors and nurses working for the DoD.
- Improves access to childcare with over $204 million for constructing new childcare centers.
- Declares that it is U.S. policy to ensure Israel has adequate capability to defend itself against Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah.
- Fully funds deployment of National Guard troops in support of Border Patrol activities at the southwest border.
- Fully funds military exercises with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region to counter China’s growing reach.
