Rep. David Valadao, representing California’s 22nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared his views on pressing issues affecting his constituents through a series of tweets. Valadao, who has served since 2021 after replacing TJ Cox, addresses topics ranging from healthcare access to public safety concerns.
On May 14, 2025, Rep. Valadao highlighted the critical role of telehealth services in rural communities such as the Central Valley. He noted that “In the Central Valley and rural communities across the country, telehealth isn’t just a convenience—it’s a lifeline.” He emphasized challenges like insufficient doctors, long wait times, and distant clinics that hinder families from receiving necessary care.
The following day, May 15, 2025, Valadao turned his attention to public safety by addressing street racing issues in the Central Valley. He stated that “In the Central Valley, street racing is an epidemic that puts the lives of other drivers, first responders, and innocent bystanders at risk.” In response to this issue during National Police Week, he announced collaboration with Rep. Pettersen on introducing new legislation titled “They’re Fast, We’re Furious Act.”
Further elaborating on this initiative on May 15th as well, Valadao pointed out alarming statistics regarding traffic incidents in Kern County: “Kern County’s fatal hit-and-run accident rate is over 151% higher than the national average.” The proposed bipartisan bill aims to establish a task force dedicated to tackling street racing impacts and developing effective countermeasures.
Born in Hanford in 1977 and currently residing there at age 46, David Valadao brings attention to these community issues while serving as a congressional representative for California’s agriculturally rich district.
