Today, Congressman David Valadao from California’s 22nd District, alongside Representatives Dina Titus, Gus Bilirakis, and Ted Lieu, has reintroduced the Armenian Genocide Education Act. This bipartisan bill aims to secure funding for educational programs through the Library of Congress, focusing on increasing awareness about the Armenian Genocide among Americans.

Congressman Valadao, who co-chairs the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, emphasized the importance of educating the public on this historical event: “The Armenian Genocide caused the loss of over 1.5 million lives at the hands of the Ottoman Empire, and it’s crucial that dark chapter isn’t forgotten.” He further stated, “Teaching Americans about this tragedy is essential, and as the co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, I’m proud to support this effort to strengthen educational efforts and reaffirm our commitment to truth and remembrance.”

The proposed legislation marks a continued effort to honor the memory of those who perished and to promote understanding of the genocide that occurred during the early 20th century.
