WASHINGTON – Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) expressed strong opposition to Iranian aggression following the House of Representatives' response to Iran's recent attack on Israel. In a statement, Valadao criticized the Biden administration's approach towards Iran, stating, "The Biden administration’s strategy of appeasement toward Iran has failed." He highlighted the administration's decision to release $6 billion in Iranian assets, which he believes has emboldened Iran and its terrorist proxies.

Valadao emphasized the importance of holding Iran and its allies accountable for their actions, stating, "We must send a clear message that there will be consequences for attacking American allies." To support this stance, Valadao voted in favor of several bills aimed at sanctioning Iran and strengthening oversight on the administration's dealings with the country.

Among the bills supported by Congressman Valadao are H.R. 5947, which eliminates sanctions waivers related to Iran, and H.Res.1143, which condemns Iran's drone and missile attack on Israel. Additionally, Valadao backed legislation such as H.R. 6245, which aims to hold Iranian leaders financially accountable, and H.R. 6015, which focuses on preventing the facilitation of terrorism through humanitarian exemptions involving Iran.

The House of Representatives also passed bills targeting entities supporting terrorist organizations, such as H.R. 6408, which suspends the tax-exempt status of non-profits aiding groups like Hamas. Other bills include H.R. 5923, which addresses Chinese financial involvement in Iran, and H.R. 4691, which establishes a Congressional review process for the lifting of sanctions on Iran.

Furthermore, Congressman Valadao supported legislation like H.R. 6064, which designates Iranian-backed Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, and H.R. 6323, which requires Iran to cease support for international terrorism to avoid sanctions.

The collective efforts reflect a bipartisan approach to countering Iranian aggression and ensuring accountability for actions that threaten American interests and allies. Valadao's commitment to addressing the challenges posed by Iran underscores the importance of a robust and strategic response in safeguarding regional stability and security.
