City of Clovis recently issued the following announcement.

On November 27, 2021 at 7:00 P.M., Clovis Police dispatch received several 911 calls regarding an injury collision on Bullard Ave., east of Temperance Ave. Officers arrived on scene to find a pedestrian down in the roadway, with a vehicle and driver nearby. Unfortunately, the pedestrian passed away from their injuries on scene. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with Officers.

The Clovis Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded to the scene and both eastbound and westbound Bullard Ave was closed for their investigation between Temperance Ave. and Locan Ave. until just after 1:00 A.M. At this time, drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in this collision.

While CRU continues to investigate the circumstances, it appears that the driver was eastbound on Bullard Ave. just east of Temperance Ave. The pedestrian appeared to have been crossing Bullard Ave. from north to south, not in a marked crosswalk. The Fresno County Sheriff – Coroner’s Office has positively identified the pedestrian as 57 year-old Sidney Carpenter of Clovis.
