Congressman David G. Valadao and Congressman Vince Fong recently held a healthcare roundtable in Bakersfield, California, with Brett Guthrie, the Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health. The discussion focused on addressing challenges faced by Central Valley healthcare providers.

"From workforce shortages to telehealth to Valley Fever, we face unique obstacles here in the Central Valley that impact the health and well-being of our residents," said Congressman Valadao. He emphasized his commitment to working with local partners to ensure access to reliable and affordable healthcare for families in the region.

Health Chairman Brett Guthrie expressed his dedication to maintaining and expanding telehealth services, especially for rural communities. "As Chairman of the Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee I am committed to ensuring Americans across our nation have access to the highest-quality, most affordable health care they need," he stated. He highlighted recent legislative efforts aimed at extending telehealth flexibilities.

Congressman Fong addressed future healthcare needs as the Central Valley grows. "In partnership with our health care professionals, we are working to develop more health care career pathways as well as residency programs to train more doctors," he said.

The event was attended by representatives from various healthcare organizations including Hall Ambulance Services, Centric Health California, Adventist Health, and others.
