Over the weekend, our KCSO Explorers participated in the 2022 Central Coast Explorer Competition held in Arroyo Grande. The competition was hosted by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office. Explorer Posts from across the state attended and competed. KCSO Explorers won awards in the following areas:
High-Risk Traffic Stop — 5th Place
Crisis Negotiation — 3rd Place
Active Shooter — 3rd Place
Crime Scene Investigation — 3rd Place
Bicycle Obstacle Course; Female Division — 1st Place
Explorers who attended the competition were: Abigail Arredondo, Bryn Brown, Ryder Cottrell, Bethany Zavala, Gonzalo Vargas and Melany Morfin.
Explorers also had the opportunity to apply for scholarships; which two of our Explorers received:
1st Place — Explorer Abigail Arredondo ($750.00) 2nd Place — Explorer Melany Morfin ($500.00)
All in all it was a great weekend and we are proud of the young men and women who participated!
