Congressman Valadao addresses CBP operations and calls for immigration reform

Today, Congressman David Valadao addressed the recent Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operations in Kern County. He emphasized the focus of these operations on apprehending individuals with criminal ties.

Congressman Valadao stated, "I have been in contact with Customs and Border Protection regarding the recent immigration enforcement actions in Kern County, and I was informed these operations were focused on apprehending known criminals or those with ties to criminal organizations in our community."

He acknowledged receiving numerous calls from constituents concerned about their families' safety. "I have received numerous calls from constituents expressing fear for their families’ safety, and I do not support inciting concern," he said.

Valadao stressed the importance of clear communication for future operations to prevent unnecessary alarm among farmworkers. He urged the Biden Administration to prioritize targeting criminals rather than those contributing to the food supply.

"We urgently need common sense immigration reform that creates a pathway to earned legal status for hardworking individuals contributing to our economy while ensuring the removal of those who threaten the safety of our communities," Valadao remarked. He expressed his intention to work on new legislation addressing these issues in Congress.
